How to Record WhatsApp Calls on Android and iPhone

WhatsApp is a great messenger app with a number of features including both video and audio calls. We use it every single day because it’s convenient and just works. But there is one feature that has been missing for a while and that is call recording. Of course, there is a major concern of surveillance and misuse with call recordings, but sometimes we desperately need it. If you want to record WhatsApp calls there are a few workarounds, but it’s not full-proof as it also depends on the smartphone you are using. That being said, this is your best bet right now. So, here is how you can record WhatsApp calls on Android and iPhone.

Note: Make sure that you are not breaching privacy or law of the land by secretly recording calls. You should take informed consent from the callee prior to the recording.
Recording WhatsApp Calls on Android and iPhone

Since WhatsApp call recording process is different for Android and iOS devices, we have created separate sections. Feel free to skip to the section that you want to read.
Record WhatsApp Calls on Android

WhatsApp call recording doesn’t work on every Android device. Some devices have VoIP call recording enabled and some don’t. Go through this updated list and check if your device is mentioned there. If you don’t want to go through the list, just follow the steps and you will know if your phone is supported or not. Also, note that devices running on Android Pie may prevent the recording due to restrictions at the OS level.

1. Install Cube Call Recorder app (free, in-app purchases) and open it. Grant all the necessary permissions and you are good to go.

Tips:: Accidentally deleted your WhatsApp chat history? Don't panic! You can follow instructions here to restore deleted WhatsApp messages from Android without backup.

2. Now, open WhatsApp and make a call, a widget should appear on your screen indicating it’s recording your WhatsApp call. If the widget doesn’t appear then manually tap on the microphone icon in the Cube Recorder app. It will start recording your call thereafter.

3. In some cases the recordings don’t have audio from the other side. To fix this issue, tap on the hamburger menu and open “Recording”. Change VoIP recording audio source to Microphone. Note that it will turn on the loudspeaker as well.

Besides WhatsApp calls, you can use this app to record cellular calls as well. In our testing, WhatsApp call recording worked flawlessly, both on Mi A1 and Redmi Note 6 Pro, without changing the default settings.
Record WhatsApp Calls on iPhone

iOS is pretty strict when it comes to privacy, so there is no easy way to record calls be it WhatsApp calls or cellular. However, there is a hack which accomplishes the task but it takes a lot of work. It’s a tedious process where you will need a Mac, an iPhone, and a secondary smartphone with WhatsApp account. The secondary device can be either Android or iPhone. We need a secondary device as your primary device will remain connected to your Mac for recording.

Tips: How to Backup and Restore WhatsApp Message on Android or iPhone

1. Connect your iPhone to Mac and give necessary permissions. Now, open QuickTime and click on the File menu. Here, choose “New Audio Recording”, select your iPhone as the source, and click on the record button.

2. From your iPhone, make a WhatsApp call to your secondary WhatsApp device. Once connected, use the WhatsApp’s group calling feature to add the person you want to talk to.

3. Now continue the conversation using the secondary device. After you are done with the conversation, stop the recording on Quicktime and save it on your Mac.

Note: Keep the iPhone connected to the Mac all through the conversation. Also, all three WhatsApp numbers should be active in the group call. Disconnection of any of the device will prevent the recording.

That’s it, I hope that this tutorial was able to help you record your voice calls on WhatsApp. If you want to learn more about the popular chatting application, you can read our WhatsApp tips article where we share many tips and tricks to help you get the most out it.

Record Your WhatsApp Calls

As you can see it is not easy to record WhatsApp calls. With the ongoing tighter privacy controls, we can only assume that it is going to be even harder in the future. iOS already makes it next to impossible to record calls and Android is slowly moving in the same direction. Let us know if you were able to use our methods to record WhatsApp calls or not. Also, what do you feel about these new privacy standards which are preventing users from recording your calls? Apple’s Acquisition of Texture Could be Worth At Least $485 Million

In March, Apple officially unveiled Apple News+, a brand new subscription service built upon digital magazine spines (and some digital newspapers). To build that service, Apple needed to acquire the “Netflix of magazines”, Texture. A new report aims to shed some light on just how much that acquisition last year cost Apple.

Texture recently confirmed that it was shutting down its services soon. For iOS users that’s not a huge loss, because Texture already cost $9.99 per month and that’s what Apple News+ costs. However, 30% of Texture’s users were on Android (and Windows), and those users won’t be able to access Apple News+ (unless they get an iOS device). That leaves them out in the cold for a subscription service with access to hundreds of magazines.

Now, The New York Post has put together a report that breaks down how the money situation worked behind-the-scenes. According to the publication, Apple’s acquisition worked out to be a total of $485 million, but it’s not just one lump sum of that size. To start, Apple reportedly paid $100 million upfront to companies Condé Nast, Rogers Media, Meredith, and Hearst — all of which are publishers.

Next, guaranteed payouts for those publishers upwards of $145 million for the first year. In the second and third years, Apple then guaranteed the companies an additional $240 million. Putting it all together, Apple’s acquisition of Texture is upwards of $485 million if all these numbers are the real deal.

Which means Apple sees a lot of potential with News+, but needs to see a return on that. According to a recent report, Apple News+ saw a total of 200,000 people sign up for the subscription service within its first 48 hours of availability. However, News+ comes with a 30-day free trial period (before it switches to $9.99 per month). Will all of those customers stick with the service? That remains to be seen.
Have you tried out Apple News+ yet?

How to charge your Android phone battery faster

Get the right plug and charger

While Android chargers have a universal fitting, that doesn't mean they're all the same. Connecting your charging cable to a laptop is a bad idea if you want to charge your phone quickly: a USB 2.0 port chucks out just 2.5 watts of power, while USB 3 delivers 4.5 watts. Your wall charger will deliver much more, so this is the best bet if you want the speediest charging.

This is why your smartphone is charges slowly

Many modern Android phones support fast charging, which delivers a whopping 15-18 watts and can, therefore, charge your phone much more quickly. You'll find a good list of fast charging phones on the Qualcomm website (you don't need to have a Qualcomm processor; just Qualcomm's power system).

Be aware that just because a phone supports fast charging, it doesn't mean the charger that came with it is a fast charger, or the most effective charger possible for that phone. You may have to buy your own. For example, the LG G6 came with a stock charger that used Quick Charge 2.0, just like the G5, even though both phones support Quick Charge 3.0.

How to fix a phone that won't charge

The best battery packs and portable chargers for Android

You don't necessarily need to buy your phone maker's own charger – a third party one can save you a fortune – but be wary of no-name gray market cheapies, which have a tendency to set things on fire.

We also don't recommend using wireless charging if you're in a hurry. Wireless charging can't deliver power as well or as quickly as good old-fashioned cables, so it's best used when you have more time on your hands. The exception to this rule is wireless quick charging. This will be more effective than USB charging, but less effective than cable charging from a wall socket.

What's the best way to charge your phone?

Put it into airplane mode

The less your phone is trying to do while it's charging, the more quickly it will recharge. Airplane mode blocks any wireless radios on your device, reducing your phone's capabilities and therefore stopping it from doing so much.

It won't receive calls or messages while it's in airplane mode, but it’s worth it to have a device that will stay on for the next few hours.

Turn it off

Turning your phone off completely will allow it to recharge even faster than putting it in airplane mode. Again, you might miss out on a few notifications while it is off, but you'll have to live with that if you want your phone to last until you come home again.

Opinion by Nicholas Montegriffo

Having the willpower to leave our phone turned off every now and then can save a lot of battery stress.

Use a battery-saving mode

Ever since Lollipop, Android devices have a battery saving mode of some description (usually Settings>Battery>Battery Saver), whether it's the stock option or a manufacturer-specific feature such as Motorola's Doze. Switch this on to conserve power while your phone recharges.

Switch off unnecessary features

Check to see if you have any unnecessary features on, such as Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi or NFC, which could be using up battery power. Close all your apps and stop your phone from doing automatic backups or updating apps from the Google Play Store.

Don't touch it

If you need your phone on and out of airplane mode while it's charging, because you are expecting an important call, try not to keep using your phone every 30 seconds. Why? Because the screen is the biggest battery drainer of them all.

The more you wake your phone, the faster its battery will drain. So try to avoid the urge to check every notification that comes through, leave it to charge, and it will reach the desired level much faster.

Keep it cool

Temperature matters when it comes to technology, and it's never good to let a battery get too hot. Now, this doesn’t mean you should stick your phone in the freezer while it charges, it's better to avoid heat than inflict extreme cold.

No need to go to extremes. / © AndroidPIT

Always charge your phone in a cool or room temperature spot. Don’t leave it to charge in direct sunlight or in a hot car. If you’re using a portable battery charger, don’t charge your phone in your pocket.

If you can avoid getting your battery too warm, it'll reward you with a slightly faster charge.
Buy a portable USB charger

This won't actually charge your phone faster, but it will solve the problem of having a low battery and not enough time to fully charge it. Portable USB chargers come in small, lightweight packages and often can be picked up for less than $20.

Carry one of these in your pocket and you can charge your phone on-the-go – meaning you don't have to worry about that last minute dash to pump some juice into it. Have a look at what we're talking about over at Amazon.
